EXCERPT - CHAPTER 11

Graham didn’t even remember hanging up the phone. The next thing he knew, he was sitting on the small salmon colored couch with his head in his hands and tears clouded his eyes. He couldn't lose her now. He would just have to explain things. He had to make her understand how much he loved her, and that the past was over and done with. Forever.

Mari was startled awake when the phone rang and she heard her brother talking to Graham. Oh how she wanted to trust in them, to know that there was some way to believe in them again. She just couldn’t though. She had already been through so much with her feelings for him, she just couldn't do it anymore--the risk was too great.
“Thanks Jackson, tomorrow will be soon enough for talking,” she whispered.
“That’s okay. He wanted me to tell you that he loves you.”
Mari didn’t respond, she just rolled over and cried herself back to sleep.
